Earlier on the second round of Presidential Election will be held on Sunday, on May 28th, Colors of Resistance İzmir broadcasted a video in order to urge people to vote. LGBTI+s are invited to vote against the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party) which adopts and creates systematic hatred and discriminatory policies targeting LGBTI+s, and to be observer for ensuring ballot box safety.
The video includes following statements:
“We see those who turn LGBTI+s into political playthings;
We don’t admit anyone making us a negotiation matter;
You are trying to eliminate us from streets, working places, schools and the society;
We are aware all the intimidation policies and despite all the odds, we will not give up being visible in every field;
Our struggle didn’t begin yesterday, and will not end with the elections;
No vote for anti-LGBTI+ Erdoğan on May 28th in order to bury the fascist government in the dustbin of history!
We address LGBTI+s to go to the polls on May 28th in order to be free from LGBTI+-phobic government;
We invite LGBTI+s not only to vote but also to be observers in order to ensure ballot box safety.
Long live lubunya (queer) struggle against all oppression and marginalization policies! Biji berxwedana lubunya!”
