4th Zeliş Deniz Queer Cinema Award found the owner at the opening ceremony of Pink Life QueerFest.

4th Zeliş Deniz Queer Cinema Award was granted to Sema Semih Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

The 4th Zeliş Deniz Queer Cinema Award was granted to Sema Semih, at the 11th Pink Life QueerFest this year.

The award granted to director Metin Akdemir last year was given to Sema Semih who set their heart on queer cinema, this year. Sema Semih took her award from Metin Akdemir. The award was given at the opening reception of the fest which was organized at Goethe-Institut Ankara on September 30.

The award is given with the aim of strengthening queer cinema

Sema Semih, who has set their heart on LGBTI+ movement for years, took part in the documentary titled 9/8fight41: a 9/8 fight for all of us). Inspired by the fight of Rukeli Trollman, who was exposed to multiple discrimination by Nazi regime due to “boxing by dancing like Gypsy”, and was murdered at the concentration camp of Wittenberge, the film, directed by Gizem Aksu, traces the artist’s experience of immigration to Berlin and the fight for justice in İstanbul.

The film, 9/8fight41: a 9/8 fight for all of us, was screened within the scope of the festival, at the opening reception in Ankara.

Zeliş Deniz Queer Cinema Award, which was named in honor of the activist Zeliş Deniz who lost their life in 2015, is being given with the aim of strengthen queer cinema and in order to be in solidarity with those, who make a great effort for queer cinema.
