May 17 Association and Kaos GL Association carried out “Gender Equality and Climate Crisis Drawing Workshop” in Ankara on October 28th and 29th.

At the workshop, artists from various disciplines discussed climate crisis and queer ecology within the context of “LGBTI+s and Introduction to Climate Crisis: Beginning from Self-Transformation: Climate 101 -Recommendations Guide” which was published by May 17 Association in 2021.

Within the scope of the workshop, which started on Friday, October 28 with the presentation by Özge Gökpınar from May 17 Association, the causes and course of the climate change, queer ecology on the axis of climate change, the relationship between gender, LGBTI+s and climate crisis and the need of climate justice were discussed.

Following the presentation the artists talked about how to transform art activism for creating a better and inclusive environment and climate justice activism. The first day of the workshop was completed with designing the artworks to be produced within the frame of the theme by the artists.

Gathering on Saturday, October 29, the artists held a meeting to discourse on the works they designed within the scope of the theme.

The artworks produced within the context of the workshop, are going to be presented in the exhibition which will be held between December 9 and 27.
