On Saturday, April 27th, Remzi Altunpolat from Kaos GL and Selen Dendeş, a member of Colors of Resistance Izmir, served as speakers during the panel. Altunpolat highlighted the influence of capitalism on shaping gender and sexuality, expressing that “Capitalism offers gendered and sexual inscriptions for everything.” Dendeş remarked that LGBTI+ individuals are not only represented through their labor identities but also through their sexual identities as subjects of May 1st.
The panel covered various themes, including the role of the LGBTI+ community in May 1st events and the need for an organized movement within the community to challenge capitalist structures. Attendees discussed the experiences of LGBTI+ individuals in the workforce, including those engaged in sex work. Participants exchanged perspectives and stories during the event.
