Before May 1st, Colors of Resistance hosted a panel in Izmir focusing on LGBTI+ rights and labor. During the event, discussions centered on the intersection of LGBTI+ labor issues with significant social observances like May 1st.

On Saturday, April 27th, Remzi Altunpolat from Kaos GL and Selen Dendeş, a member of Colors of Resistance Izmir, served as speakers during the panel. Altunpolat highlighted the influence of capitalism on shaping gender and sexuality, expressing that “Capitalism offers gendered and sexual inscriptions for everything.” Dendeş remarked that LGBTI+ individuals are not only represented through their labor identities but also through their sexual identities as subjects of May 1st.

The panel covered various themes, including the role of the LGBTI+ community in May 1st events and the need for an organized movement within the community to challenge capitalist structures.
