Cihan Erdal, LGBTI+ activist imprisoned for the HDP Kobanê Trials, was elected Green Left Party Assembly with the highest number of votes.

Cihan Erdal, a former Central Executive Board member of HDP, an academic and LGBTI+ activist who has been imprisoned for 8 months for the trial of HDP politicians, was elected to the Green Left Party's Party Assembly with the highest number of votes.

The Green Left Party has completed its third ordinary conference, the Telgraf reported. The conference started at 12:00 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 and concluded on Monday , May 24th.

The party assembly was decided to be held online due to the pandemic. For the first time, all members of a political party in Turkey voted through the online system.

As a result of the online vote, Ayşe Erdem and İbrahim Akın were elected as co-spokespersons, and Cihan Erdal, an LGBTI+ activist imprisoned for the HDP Kobanê trials, received the most votes in the Party Assembly.
