Queer Cyprus: “There isn’t a legal framework regulating the right to access the gender affirmation process clearly to prevent arbitrary and divergent treatments.”

Legal gender recognition should be based on the right of self-determination” Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Queer Cyprus Association stated the lack of regulation that allows people to have their name and gender changed based on the principle of self-determination and urged to end the violation of international human rights obligations:

“In Northern Cyprus, legal gender and name recognition isn’t regulated based on respect for the principle of self-determination. There isn’t a legal framework regulating the right to access the gender affirmation process clearly to prevent arbitrary and divergent treatments. To end the violation of international human rights obligations, local bodies should also consider offering a gender-neutral or third-gender option that can reflect non-binary identities.”
