The online workshops organized by Kardelen Yılmaz took place between November 13 and 16.

Organized by Kardelen Yılmaz of May 17 Association, the online workshop for lawyers took place between November 13 and 16. In the workshop, which was held in one session per day in order to provide lawyers with professional knowledge and raise awareness, Anjelik Kelavgil spoke on the basic concepts and their usage in the field of LGBTI+. They also spoke about the LGBTI+ struggle from the past to the present and the political approach towards LGBTI+s from the 70s to the present.

Defne Güzel talked about the basic concepts of HIV and how they are misused and explained the history of HIV activism on the second day of the workshop. Then lawyer Enes Salar talked about the legal dimension of HIV and the situations that can arise in the framework of titles such as the working life, the privacy of the private life and the criminal law.

On the third day, Hatice Demir presented the legal dimension of the transition. She explained the role of the struggle for rights by presenting the situations in which lawyers can be involved between hospital processes and legal processes, the situations to be considered, how to file a lawsuit and the court decisions regarding the legal recognition of the gender affirmation process.

In the final session, Belgin Günay gave an introduction to intersex rights and activism. Speaking about the hormonal and surgical operations that intersex people are subjected to in Turkey, Günay gave examples of ideal legislation around the world and conducted case studies based on several examples. There was a consensus among the experts for a legislative study on intersex rights and plans for a workshop on the subject.
