LGBTI+ activists took to the streets for May 17 International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia and Interphobia.

Activists gathered in front of Türkan Saylan Cultural Center by marching in a single line from Kıbrıs Şehitleri Street carrying the main banner written “At school, at work, in parliament. Lubunyas (queers) are everywhere. Take it or leave it, lubunyas are everywhere! – Long live May 17 International Day against Homophobia, ­ Biphobia, Transphobia and Interphobia!” on, the placards written “We have been and we will be”, “My body, my voice – Long live anti-interphobia”, “I am a trans, the wheel is also going to turn – Long live anti-transphobia”, “I am bisexual, not doubtful – Long live anti-biphobia”, “Trans murders are political”, “Despite hate, long live life” on, by furling LGBTI+ and rainbow flags and with the photographs of our friends who passed away.

Activists said, “Our struggle against those who set their entire election campaign over LGBTI+ hostility, goes on and will go on!” and commemorated our friends who passed away by mentioning their names in company with the slogan “They live in our struggle!”.

“We know that struggle is a form of resistance which we know best and we will never give up. We have solidarity against their anti-LGBTI+ policies and we have struggle against their hatred! Long live LGBTI+s, long live our solidarity!”
