The 1st LGBTI Pride Parade in the eastern city of Dersim took place on Saturday as part of the 14th Munzur Culture and Nature Festival.

Organized by the local LGBTI initiative, Roştîya Asmê [Moon Light in Zazaki], hundreds stood behind the banner that reads “we are marching against heterosexism, fascism, capitalism, militarism, racism and hydroelectric power plants.”

The 1st Dersim Munzur LGBTI Pride Parade made a call for the Turkish Hate Crime Law to include protection against hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The government removed the LGBTI protection from the law passed in March 2014 although it was included in the drafts.
