Hamdi Fırat Büyük from Balkan Insight announced that Bulgarian pop star Azis was prevented from performing at the Balkan Festival held in Bursa because of being targeted by Akit newspaper.

The news of the Yeni Akit, which targets LGBTI+s and LGBTI+ organizations via systematic smear and hate campaigns and one of a pro-government and conservative media organ, was: “What is the Ak Party’s Kestel Municipality trying to do? Homosexual pervert Azis will take the stage in the festival they will organize for the people of the district.”

Support from Kestel Municipality to Akit’s hatred

Detailed news also contains the information that the AK Party’s Kestel Municipality “corrected its wrong decision” after the reactions against Azis.

Speaking to Akit, Kestel Mayor Önder Tanır also shared the hatred: “We had made an advertisement before seeing the photographs and videos of the related artist. We canceled the concert after realizing the mistake.”
