“We expect the minister to ‘problematize’ the hatred directed against LGBTI+s instead of being LGBTI+”
115 women and LGBTI+ organizations reacted against Minister of Family and Social Services Derya Yanık. Criticizing Yanık’s press statement disregarding gender equality and adopting LGBTI+ hostility, the organizations said: “We want to see a minister who is all for equality.”
115 women and LGBTI+ organizations put signatures to the text, which was opened to signature with the call of Mor Çatı Women’s Shelter Foundation in two days:
“Minister Yanık’s statements regarding LGBTI+s are hate speech beyond any doubt. Stating that there is combat against LGBTI+ propaganda by claiming that there is no intervention to LGBTI+ existence is a manipulation and an effort to spread hate among the public. We expect the minister to ‘problematize’ the hatred directed against LGBTI+s instead of being LGBTI+.”
