Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul Deputy Züleyha Gülüm said in parliament that the 'Nightwatch Act', which was brought to parliamentary agenda by the government and designed to enhance the power of the Nightwatch personnel, is a "law of interfering with the lives of women and LGBTI+'s."

HDP Deputy Züleyha Gülüm said in her speech that the current security problem is the problem of securing power, and added, "you are designing to use violence and oppress the LGBTI+’s because of their sexual orientation, so you are trying to spread your own mindset through the guards to the streets and squares".

“You want to use violence and oppress the LGBTI+’s because of their sexual orientation”

The whole statement of Gülüm is as follows:

The Nightwatch law of the government; to this date, it is clear that the guards did not ensure the safety of women, workers, or animals. Obviously, this security problem is the government’s own security problem and it has brought this package before us to secure its own future.

The guards will also act as morality guards on your behalf. You are trying to force the society into your mindset, so you're trying to intervene here, you're trying to interfere with women's lives, lifestyles, clothing.

You want to use violence against the LGBTI+'s and oppress them because of their sexual orientation, so you're trying to spread your own mindset through guards to the streets and squares.
