A lawsuit was filed against Antalya Pride March: Megaphone deemed an “instrument of crime” Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Antalya Pride March, which was planned to be held on July 14 this year, was prevented by the Governorate ban and police attack. The police attacked those who gathered on the day of the march and wanted to make a press statement, detaining four people, three of whom were lawyers.

Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau issued an indictment against the detainees. The prosecutor's office demanded that the four detainees be charged with “organizing and leading unlawful meetings and demonstrations and participating in their movements”.

Antalya 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment on August 16 and decided to file a lawsuit. The first hearing of the case will be held on April 10, 2025 at 9.45 am.

ISIS allegedly to attack LGBTI organizations

The prosecutor's office claimed that ISIS was “planning to carry out terrorist acts in big cities and tourism cities, and that LGBTI organizations were reported to be among the target audience.”

The indictment stated that on the same day, animal rights defenders made a press statement and some people who wanted to participate in the LGBTI+ Pride March also took part in this action.

Megaphone considered an instrument of crime, stickers as evidence

In the police report and the indictment, the megaphone confiscated during the detention was considered a “crime tool” and the stickers on it were considered as criminal evidence.

Violent police officers not prosecuted

On the other hand, the Prosecutor's Office stated that there was no need to prepare an indictment against the police officers who were subjected to violence by the police, on the grounds that “there was no concrete evidence to support the allegations that the police officers made statements of battery and insulting statements” and did not issue an indictment.
