Adana Bar Association LGBTI+ Rights Commission was established upon the written request of the lawyers affiliated to the bar association and the Board decision and it started to work.
Adana Bar Association LGBTI+ Rights Commission was established upon the written request of the lawyers affiliated to the bar association and the Board decision. The first meeting of the commission was held with participation of the members of board, under the moderation of Commission Coordinator Att. Ayça Kara Sığırcı.
Att. Ceyda Esay Büyükdağ was elected as the Chair of Commission, Att. Zülal Uğurlu, Att. Özge Günay and Att. Şule Kaynar were elected as Vice Chairs of Commission and Att. Bahar Melek Dizdar was elected as the Secretary of Commission at the meeting, in which council committee was determined.
The first cooperation meeting of the commission was held with Pink Life Association. The Commission decided to organize in-company trainings in order to raise LGBTI+ awareness in the bar association and to learn the terminology regarding LGBTI+s, within the scope of the meeting, where the roadmap was determined and the needs analysis was conducted. The commission will also establish a counseling / emergency hotline that LGBTI+s can call and report in case of any violation of their rights, similar to the Women’s Right Center of the Bar Association.
