The lawsuit which was brought after Ahmet Yıldız’s murder by their father in 2008 due to being gay, has been dragging on for 14 years. The case will be heard on Wednesday, January 11, at 14:05 at the İstanbul Anatolian Courthouse Kartal 5th Heavy Penal Court.

What had happened?

The lawsuit which was brought after Ahmet Yıldız’s murder by their father in 2008 due to being gay, has been dragging on for years. The killer's father Yahya Yıldız has been wanted by the police for years within the scope of the case, which was brought in 2009. 26-year-old, student of Marmara University, Ahmet Yıldız, was killed by their father on July 15, 2008, due to being gay. The killer's father Yahya Yıldız has been on the run for years. And the dock has been empty since then.

At the hearing of the case on February 28, 2023, the court did not allow the press and public to attend the hearing, stating that there was a confidentiality order on the file. On 4 July 2023, the court rejected the application of the LGBTI Rights Center of the Ankara Bar Association as an intervener.
