Chair of the Subcommittee on Children's Rights, Katırcıoğlu, targeted LGBTI+ individuals during a meeting with UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, Najat Maalla M'jid, by saying, “We are fighting to protect our children from LGBT propaganda.”

Radiye Sezer Katırcıoğlu, Chair of the Child Rights Subcommittee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and AKP Member of Parliament for Kocaeli, met with Najat Maalla M’jid, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children, and Paolo Marchi, UNICEF Representative to Turkey.
During the meeting held in Parliament, Katırcıoğlu targeted LGBTI+ individuals in her speech.
She stated, “We are fighting to protect our children from the increasing LGBT propaganda in recent years,” and continued with the following remarks:
“As Turkey, we are one of the first countries to sign all international agreements on the protection and promotion of children's rights without any reservations. We not only protect our children from violence, but also support their mental, emotional, and social development. We are fighting to protect our children from the increasing LGBT propaganda in recent years. At the same time, we are carrying out comprehensive efforts against the threats they face in digital spaces. The reports we have prepared in this area aim to raise awareness not only for our children but for the entire society. We act with a conscious and protective approach, not a prohibitive one.”
