“As lubunyas we stand with all minorities and oppose all forms of violence, as we always have.”

Ankara Pride Week Committee raised the flag on World Peace Day Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Ankara Pride Week displayed a flag on the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Sıhhiye Indoor Car Park Bazaar building, which also featured the colors of the Palestinian flag on 1 September, World Peace Day. The flag also bore the slogan, “Lubunyas Against Occupation.”

The Ankara Pride Week Committee shared a statement on their social media accounts regarding this action. The statement reads as follows:

“As lubunyas (queers), we stand with all minorities and oppose all forms of violence, as we always have. We raise our voices against the Israeli occupation and genocide, which represent a significant aspect of the patriarchal system and have been ongoing since 7 October. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, waving our flags side by side and shouting with all our might: Israel, take your hands off Palestine!

We reject the double standards of the AKP (justice and Development Party) - (Nationalist Movement Party) MHP government and demand accountability for every life doomed to violence and every person forced to die.

We question the role of the gas transported by companies and the Nordic ship docked at the port of Bandırma. All actions supporting Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people must stop immediately!

For global peace, LUBUNYAS STAND FIRMLY AGAINST OCCUPATION!”
