Diyanet-Sen announced its ‘Family Year Action Plan’ on 28 February. It targeted LGBTI+s with the expressions of ‘desexualisation’, ‘perversion’ and ‘gender ideology’.

Following the declaration of 2025 as the Family Year and the draft law proposing amendments to the Civil Code and Penal Code targeting LGBTI+'s, Diyanet-Sen also targeted LGBTI+'s.
Diyanet-Sen announced its Family Year Action Plan at a press conference on Friday, 28 February. A new one has been added to the action plans targeting LGBTI+ persons.
Ali Yıldız, President of Diyanet-Sen, the union of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, targeted LGBTI+s with the expressions of ‘desexualisation’, ‘lobbies of destruction’, ‘gender ideology’ and ‘perversion’.
In his speech, Yıldız claimed that the family has been shaken from its foundations and targeted LGBTI+'s through digital platforms and said
"Social media, daytime programmes, television series, where all kinds of mischief and perversion are legitimised, and the publications of digital platforms under the command of perverted lobbies should be subject to strict controls. The family should not be sacrificed to the neoliberal understanding of unlimited freedom based on hedonism, cultural imperialism, capitalist profit mentality without moral boundaries. It should not be forgotten that family is the survival issue of our nation. The family is the hill of archers in the struggle for civilisation. We have to develop measures and mechanisms to protect the family with a vision nourished by the rivers of our civilisation against the global insult targeting the family and generation, and we have to defend human, family and truth against deviant lobbies and global insult."
Yıldız continued his LGBTI+ hostility by saying ‘biological sex is being targeted’ in his speech in which he used the expression ‘desexualisation’:
"Global policies based on gender ideology that excludes truth and nature, discourses and actions that target biological sex and impose desexualisation, publications that normalise perversion; while disrupting tradition, culture, belief, values system and morality, it cracks the sociocultural ground on which the family sits. For a long time, global lobbies of destruction have been condemning the family to poverty by alienating the woman from motherhood, distancing the child from tradition and values, criminalising the father and the man, and separating the three pillars of the family from the family separately."
Family Conference will be organised, digital platforms will be complained to RTUK
Diyanet-Sen announced that they will organise signature campaigns, file complaints to the Radio and Television Supreme Council and organise press statements in 81 provinces for the supervision of digital platforms and television series.
Among the LGBTI+-friendly activities to be carried out by Diyanet-Sen within the scope of the Year of Family Action Plan are the ‘Family Workshop’ planned to be held with Ankara University Social Sciences University and the preparation of the 2025 issue of the Journal of Women and Family as a ‘Family Special Issue’.
