The participants of the “Great Family Meeting against LGBTI Imposition”, shouted, “Muslim don’t sleep, protect your family” and “LGBT evil, get out of our country” as slogans.
The Justice and Development Party (AKP) Konya Metropolitan Mayor and an AKP MP also participated in the march organized with the motto “Great Family Meeting against LGBT Imposition.”
The organizations, started in İstanbul in September under color of “family” meeting, against LGBTI+ equal citizenship rights, are going on.
These organizations, targeting the existence of LGBTI+s and their right to life, continued this time in Konya, following İstanbul and Urfa, on October 22, under the color of “protecting the family”.
The invitation to the organization titled “Great Family March” was urged by the Konya Non-Governmental Organizations Platform with the hashtag “GüçlüAileGüçlüToplum” (“StrongFamilyStrongSociety”) and with the motto “Great Family March against LGBT Imposition”. Önder Kutlu, President of Konya Non-Governmental Organizations Platform, made a statement earlier on the march and said “We believe that we are under serious threat, and our acts are due to our religion, we are being imposed.”

Accompanied by AKP Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay and AKP Konya MP Ahmet Sorgun, the participants of the “Great Family Meeting Against LGBT Imposition” marched from Kılıçarslan Square to Kayalıpark, chanting “Don’t touch my family”, “Tekbir” “Muslim don’t sleep, protect your family.”
Remarking that he participated in the meeting as a “Mayor” Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay posted a photo on his social media accounts and wrote: “I participated in ‘Great Family Meeting against LGBT Imposition’ both as a mayor and citizen living in Konya. The position of Konya against global impositions, is always clear, evident.”
AKP Konya MP Ahmet Sorgun also shared a post with a photo and wrote: “We realized our ‘GREAT FAMILY MARCH’ against LGBT Imposition, which threatens human dignity and morality.”
