Attack on trans woman on the street in Izmir caught on camera Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Bornova Street in Izmir's Alsancak neighborhood has witnessed yet another hate attack targeting trans women. On December 22nd, a trans woman standing on the street was caught on camera as one of the two passing men punched her for no reason and continued on his way.

The November 20 Association, which was established in Izmir in the past months against hate attacks, made the footage public.

Reminding that hate attacks have escalated in Bornova Street and its surroundings, the association said:

“The latest incident reveals the horrible dimensions of hate policies that threaten the right to life of trans women. A trans woman waiting in front of her own house was subjected to physical violence. This attack once again shows how hate policies endanger social life. We call out to the elements of the system that make this situation possible: The hate policies you fuel are killing us.”
