Boğaziçi University Attorneys Coordination stated that people who declared to be police officers called the families of the students. The coordination will press charges on behalf of families and students.

Boğaziçi University Attorneys Coordination said that the people who declared themselves as police officers called the families of the students and said, "We were curious about the psychology of your child" and "We will doom your child's future".

In their statement, the Coordination reminded that more than 500 students were detained, 11 students were arrested and many house arrest and judicial control decisions were decreed for the peaceful protests that have been going on for about a month against the appointment of "trustee rector" to Boğaziçi University:

"The whole process, including the detention of students, has proceeded through violations of fundamental rights and freedoms of the students and criminal acts of law enforcement officers. In addition to practices such as reverse handcuffs, tear gas, detaining students without food and water, abuse, harassment, etc., the families of many students were were called by people who declared themselves as police officers and intimidated with statements ranging from ‘We were curious about the psychology of your child’ to ‘We will doom your child's future’, according to the behavior of the family.”

Stating that these acts constitute a crime against both students and their families, lawyers continued as follows:

"Law enforcement officers commit crimes against university students, who are adult individuals, by violating the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 20 of the Constitution titled Privacy of Private Life.

"They committed the crime of 'threat' against the families"
