Having been targeted by former Ankara mayor Melih Gökçek, Cem Adrian’s stage performance scheduled for Sunday August 6 in the Sarıkaya neighborhood of Yozgat, was cancelled.

Gökçek targeted Adrian’s stage performance by sharing a post on his Twitter account: “I cannot believe… But don’t worry… There are brave people in charge who won’t let it happen. Wait until tomorrow, God willing!” The MHP-led mayor of Sarıkaya, Ömer Açıkel claimed, in his statement on the matter that the concert was cancelled due to “a financial dispute with the organizing company”. Following the cancellation of the concert, Gökçek posted a tweet saying “That brave man intervened. The concert has been cancelled. We thank that brave man.”

Following the cancellation of Hedef Stage program, Cem Adrian shared the song “Elbet Bir Gün Buluşacağız” (Surely, we will meet someday), which he performed in 2020, with the statement “YOZGAT<3 BEN” on his Twitter page.

“Today everyone is waiting to hear my answer, this is my answer”

Musician Adrian reacted against the cancellation of the Yozgat concert from the stage. Addressing the audience at his concert at Ayvalık Amphitheatre tonight, Adrian continued as follows after asking “Should I give a political message?”:

“Crowds are not always favorable. However the crowd in the right place at the right time is incredible. The crowd here is beautiful.”

Addressing the security guards Adrian also said: “Please don’t stand with your back to me with the aim of protection. No one is going to jump on stage in order to do harm. Please listen to me from the seats. I would be happy.” With their faces turned towards Cem Adrian, the security guard also listened and watched the concert.

Cem Adrian didn’t neglect to make a video with his audience. In the video, which he made by asking his audience to switch on the light of their mobile phones, he said: “Today everyone is waiting to hear my answer. That is my answer.” And he went on as follows:

“There are too many people who have been deprived of love. No one was forced to come here. Despite the highly difficult economic conditions, you came because you love. I feel sorry for people who have the curse of not being loved. No need to mention them.”

After his speech, the famous musician sang the folk song “Ne Ağlarsın Benim Zülfü Siyahım?” (Why are you crying my black-haired beauty?). There were emotional moments when the audience sang along with Adrian in the section “Bu da gelir, bu da geçer ağlama” (Everything that happens will come to an end, don’t cry).

Adrian also shared the video he shot on his Instagram account later that night.
