Co-Chair of the DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları, spoke at her party’s group meeting. In her speech, Hatimoğulları reacted to the bill submitted to Parliament by HÜDA-PAR.
She said the following in her speech:
“It is the government’s duty to actively combat violence. Furthermore, the submission of a bill that fuels hate crimes against different gender identities and sexual orientations is yet another product of male-dominated thinking and patriarchal mentality. We, as women, have never said and will never say, ‘Oh well, that’s just the way it is’ in the face of imposed male-dominated policies. Take your hands off our bodies, our labor, and our identities immediately. We are the women who fight under the slogan Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom) and we will continue to be so.”
