President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan again targeted LGBTI+ people at his party's 4th Extraordinary Congress.

At the congress held on October 7, Erdoğan pointed out the Constitutional amendment on the agenda and said, “We will eradicate those who aim to destroy our values. We do not recognize LGBT. Whoever knows LGBT people should walk together with them. We do not recognize them as the People's Alliance," he said.

Support for Erdogan from the opposition Future Party was immediate. Future Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu attended the 2nd Ordinary Congress of his party's Bursa Provincial Organization held the other day.

Davutoğlu expressed his support for Erdoğan by saying, "We are with you whatever you do to protect the family. Because family is the greatest value for us. There is no greater value than family."

This is not the first discrimination of Davutoğlu

Davutoğlu targeted LGBTI+ people when he was Prime Minister from AKP. Before the June 7, 2015 elections, Davutoğlu said that homosexuals 'caused the destruction of the people of Lut', while the AKP brochure included the following statements: 'Gay Pride can be held on Istiklal Street'.

Davutoğlu also targeted LGBTI+ people in August through fake news published in Yeni Şafak and Aydınlık newspapers. Davutoğlu defended the lie condemned by all health professional organizations and wrote the following on his social media account:

“The following article, published in an international journal by faculty members of Istanbul and Marmara University, clearly reveals that minors under the age of 18 are placed on the operating table for gender reassignment, their vocal cords are manipulated, operations are performed on boys' faces to feminize them, and girls' breasts are removed.

“I ask Mr.  Erdogan and his team: Where were you when these crimes were committed against our children? Be accountable!”
