DEM Party in front of the Ministry of Family: We will increase our organized struggle against hate crimes

Speaking at DEM Party's protest in front of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Women's Assembly Spokesperson Halide Türkoğlu drew attention to November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance.

DEM Party made a statement in front of the Ministry of Family and Social Services on November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The party's Diyarbakır MP and Women's Spokesperson Halide Türkoğlu and DEM Party MPs and executives held a banner reading “We insist on a free and equal life! We are in rebellion against male-state violence, we stand side by side”.

Speaking at the protest, Türkoğlu said, "This ministry, which should fight against violence against women, on the contrary, targets women's achievements. While it is supposed to end poverty for women, it deepens poverty even more.”

Türkoğlu also mentioned November 20, Transgender day of Remembrance

"November 20 is the Transgender day of Remembrance.The main target of polarizing politics in this country is people with different sexual identities and orientations. We know that this hatred also turns into a massacre. These hate speeches bring the problems of impoverishment, including the problem of housing, to the main agenda. As those who struggle for women, for equality and freedom, we will struggle together to exist in this society with all our differences. We will increase our organized struggle against hate speech and hate murders. On November 25th, we will raise our rebellion against all kinds of violence everywhere. We will come side by side, we will increase our solidarity, we will be the rebellion of women by saying that we insist on a free and equal life, we are in rebellion against male-state violence. We will increase our struggle and anger by saying “Jin Jiyan Azadî”. Our struggle for freedom and equality will become the main issue of this country. We know that women will win, women's organized struggle will bring life and solidarity to each other."
