DEM Party Istanbul MP Özgül Saki spoke at the Plan and Budget Commission meeting where the budget of the Ministry of Justice was discussed.
The budget of the Ministry of Justice was discussed at the Plan and Budget Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM). After the presentation speech of Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, the meeting continued with the speeches of MPs on behalf of the groups.
DEM Party Istanbul MP Özgül Saki asked Yılmaz Tunç about the “inadmissibility” decisions of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye regarding LGBTI+’s.
Saki used the following statements:
“Within the scope of Law No. 6284, judges were authorized to take prevention and protection measures, yet it is not implemented effectively. How many of those murdered in 2023 were killed or subjected to violence while there was a protection order in place? In addition, the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye continuously gives inadmissibility decisions in the applications of LGBTI+’s, citing the law on its establishment. How do you plan to regulate this issue?”
