Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan targeted both "sex equality" and LGBTI+'s at a meeting with mukhtars in Adıyaman, saying "Adıyaman's mukhtars will not allow these".
A new statement has been added to the anti-LGBTI+ statements of government officials. Speaking at the closing meeting of the "Step by Step to the New Century with our Mukhtars" project supported by the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Relations with Civil Society, Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan targeted LGBTI+ people.
Referring to the political opposition, Turan said, "They are thinking of changing the name of the Ministry of Family to the Ministry of Sex Equality. We are people who know that the term sex equality ministry is a symbol of LGBT. No one will swallow this," he said.
Turan also said that "Adıyaman muhtar will not allow" the Ministry of Family and Social Services to be renamed as the Ministry of Sex Equality.
