“Media and Digital Tools” workshop was completed.
“Media and Digital Tools” workshop, which was held by May 17 Association with the aim of enabling LGBTI+ right defenders to use social media tools effectively, was carried out in Ankara after a four-week online program.
LGBTI+ right defenders gathered in Ankara on October 28-29. Digital communications expert Özgür Mehmet Kütküt presented the following topics over the two days:
*Digital Design Principles
*Practical Graphic Design with Canva
*Digital Storytelling
*Video editing applications
*Sample Prompts for Digital Security Presentation and Artificial Intelligence
The event covered digital content and storytelling, image and video editing tools, and social media channels in a practical and hands-on way. Participants had the opportunity to plan and discuss sample digital campaigns.
Kütküt explained the basics of visual design, digital content types and storytelling, and demonstrated the use of the Canva tool.
Referring to the importance of determining the target audience, Kütküt said, “Digital content should be easy to comprehend. The language of the content should be determined in accordance with the target group, the content should have a single point of focus and not try to explain everything.”
Emphasising that digital content should also have goals such as initiating dialogue and creating minimum grounds for consensus, Kütküt continued as follows:
“The content that we produce should be open to discussion. It should keep the door open to start a dialogue, to be open to discuss and it should be surprising.”
