In April 2006, a gang attacked trans women in Eryaman, Ankara. Many trans women had to leave Eryaman where they lived. Some of them had to move to other cities, some of them moved to Esat. The attacks continued in Esat as well.

Dilek İnce was among trans women, who brought a lawsuit against the perpetrators after the attacks. She was killed  with a shotgun in Etlik, in 2008. Her murderer hasn’t been found yet.

Verdict in Eryaman-Esat case: Defendants sentenced to 62 years in total

The final hearing of the case, in which four people from the gang are being judged on the grounds of assaulting trans women in Ankara, in 2006, and which has been shuttling between Supreme Court and the other courts for more than 10 years, was held on October 2nd.  Şammas Taşdemir, Harun Çardak Ayhan Günay and Ahmet Günay were sentenced to a total of 62 years in prison on the grounds robbery and attempt to robbery.
