Sevda Karaca and İskender Bayhan, MPs from EMEP, addressed the press at TBMM: Pride Marches, which are organized all across the world, are banned in this country and suppressed by police violence.

EMEP MPs: We stand by the struggle for life with dignity of LGBTI+s! Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Labor Party (EMEP) Gaziantep MP Sevda Karaca and İstanbul MP İskender Bayhan held a press conference at Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), today.

Reminding that the parliament started to work on June 2nd, EMEP MPs described the experiences in the country in 11 days, as follows:

“We can comprehend for whom this country is a paradise and for whom a hell, just considering the experiences in these 11 days.”

Occupational homicide, woman struggle, Kurdish question, Can Atalay…

Reminding that some of those who are responsible for occupational homicides were also under roof of the parliament, EMEP MPs said the followings:

“The mortal remains of two of the five workers, whose bodies were torn into pieces as a result of the occupational homicide experienced at the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, have not been returned to their families yet. We submitted a parliamentary question on this blatant occupational homicide today. We will fight for justice for the workers, whose bodies were torn to pieces due to the primitive production conditions based only on profit, which disregard workers’ lives and leave occupational health and safety measures to the mercy of the market, we will be close followers of these homicides.”

Women’s struggle for equality, a democratic solution to the Kurdish question, Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP) MP Can Atalay’s ongoing imprisonment, constitutional debates and strengthening of the Labor and Freedom Alliance were included by Kayhan and Karaca’s agenda.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder for Pride”

EMEP MPs didn’t forget LGBTI+ Pride Month either:

“We stand shoulder to shoulder for pride! Those, who try to armor misogyny with the ‘sacred family’, are pointing out LGBTI+s’ right to live as a target with the same rhetoric. LGBTI+s are deprived of their right to live with dignity on the basis of equal citizenship in all aspects of the life, from right to work to freedom of expression, their rights are restricted and violated. Hate speech is made commonplace via black propaganda. Pride Marches, which are organized all across the world, are banned in this country and suppressed by police violence. We stand by the struggle for a dignified life of LGBTI+s, whose right to live is entirely violated by discrimination and hatred and who are subjected to precariousness in housing, employment, education and health service.”
