The event will bring together experts and professionals to explore the role of trade unions and private sector actors in creating safer, fairer, and more inclusive workplaces for LGBTI+ individuals.

ERA (LGBTI Equal Rights Association for Western Balkans and Turkey) has announced that it will hold the “Building Inclusive Workplaces” event on Thursday, 26 June. Taking place in two sessions, the event will bring together experts and professionals to explore the role of trade unions and private sector actors in creating safer, fairer, and more inclusive workplaces for LGBTI+ individuals. The discussions will focus on what’s working, what needs to change, and how meaningful inclusion can be fostered across different sectors.
The first session of the event, titled “The Role of Trade Unions”, will take place between 15:00–16:30 CET. The session will focus on the role of trade unions as key allies in advancing workplace equality. Speakers will share practical experiences on how unions can effectively advocate for LGBTI+ rights and protections at work. Speakers will include Pari Farmani (Coalition of Labor Union Women), James Cavalluzzo (BC General Employees’ Union), and lawyer Anxhela Llalla. The session will be moderated by Buğu Sıla Evren (ERA).
The second session, titled “Private Sector and LGBTI+ Inclusion”, will take place between 17:00–18:30 CET. The session will explore how private companies can foster meaningful LGBTI+ inclusion through internal policies, leadership commitment, and engagement with civil society. Speakers will include Fabrice Houdart (Koppa – The LGBTI+ Economic Power Lab), Matt Horwood (Open for Business), Zoë Schulz (Open for Business), and Emirhan Deniz Çelebi. The session will be moderated by Amarildo Fecanji.
