New Welfare Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan equated drugs with LGBTI+ rights and said, “We will lock the doors of all LGBT associations.”
Fatih Erbakan, Chairman of the Islamist New Welfare Party, spoke at the Adana Provincial Congress of his party. Erbakan, who targeted LGBTI+s and their rights with hate speech during the election period, continued his discriminatory discourse against LGBTI+s.
Equating drug trafficking with LGBTI+ rights, Erbakan said:
“Penalties for drug trafficking will be increased. If necessary, the death penalty will be imposed on drug traffickers, as in Saudi Arabia. The fight against drugs will not be with drug dealers and couriers, but with drug barons. It is not possible to get rid of the scourge of drugs without fighting these barons. As soon as we come to power, we will lock the doors of all LGBT associations, we promise. They say that CHP municipalities are making LGBT propaganda, but it was the AK Party government that allowed 14 LGBT associations to be opened in this country for the first time in the history of the republic. We will come and close these LGBT associations and prevent LGBT propaganda.”
