Fatih Erbakan, the leader of the Yeniden Refah Party, spoke at his party’s 3rd Ordinary Provincial Congress in Antalya.

In his speech, Erbakan targeted LGBTI+ people by using the phrase “LGBT propaganda.”

He also attacked Law No. 6284 and the right to alimony, equating LGBTI+ rights with drug trafficking, and said:

“We will raise a generation based on the principle of morality and spirituality. Daytime TV shows and evening series that corrupt morality… Families where it’s unclear who is whose father or child... Under our rule, the media will be made to produce content in line with our culture and values. We will also nationalize family and social services policies to protect the family. We will reform the laws imported from the West that don’t suit our structure, laws that make marriage difficult and divorce easy. Lifetime alimony is one of them; Law No. 6284 is one of them. Our policies will become national and domestic. We will never allow LGBT propaganda, and under our rule, LGBT associations will be immediately shut down. Drug trafficking is such a disaster that, if necessary, we will introduce the death penalty for those involved in it. All these steps can be taken with the National Vision (Milli Görüş).”
