Erdoğan targeted LGBTI+'s again: ‘They are planting a timed bomb in our national structure’

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan referred to Trump in his speech at the group meeting of his party and targeted LGBTI+s by saying ‘desexualisation’, ‘perverted ideologies’ and ‘LGBT scourge’.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the group meeting of his party yesterday.

In his speech, Erdoğan targeted LGBTI+'s by using the expressions “desexualisation”, “perverted ideologies” and “LGBT scourge” and claimed that the institution of family is under attack.

In his speech targeting LGBTI+‘s, Erdoğan claimed that CHP municipalities “sponsor LGBTI+”s’ and said:

"Protecting the family and keeping family values alive is a national duty for all of us. While family and population have turned into an existential problem for Turkey, the distortions in the policies of the opposition, especially the CHP, make the problem even bigger. We are faced with such a state of heedlessness and delusion that in Europe and America, measures are being taken against the LGBT scourge that has now infected nurseries and kindergartens. The opposition in our country, on the other hand, is sponsoring the LGBT perversion through the municipalities they manage and the pro-union organisations. Pay attention, they first introduced perverted movements into their parties and then into the municipalities they govern. They betrayed the institution of the family by supporting sexless movements against human nature."

Referring to the decree of the President of the United States of America (USA) Donald Trump stating that he recognises only ‘two genders’ in his speech, Erdoğan continued to target LGBTI+'s as follows:

"Taking cover behind a false concept of freedom, they are planting a time bomb in our national structure. Can you imagine, when we look at the latest developments in America.... ‘It consists only of men and women’, who says this? Trump. What else can be expected from a structure that has almost institutionalised sexual harassment as well as theft, corruption and shamelessness in party organisations and municipalities, we leave that to our nation to appreciate. We will take decisive steps to strengthen the family institution against the invasion, seduction and invasion of our national structure by deviant movements. We clearly demonstrate our sensitive attitude on this issue on every occasion."
