Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş spoke at Tekirdağ 8th Ordinary Provincial Congress on 25 January Saturday. Göktaş targeted LGBTI+'s again in her speech.

Göktaş reminded that 2025 was declared as the ‘Family Year’. She targeted LGBTI+'s by using the expressions of “desexualisation” through digital platforms:

"You know, we are all using digital media very closely right now. We all have a mobile phone in our hands. Our children also face certain risks of this digital media. We are taking important steps to protect our children in order to put them in a safe environment. We also have studies on these, especially digital addiction. Our children may face harmful trends such as desexualisation. Especially in the content they watch on digital media, our people are becoming increasingly lonely with the fast lifestyle. As you know, our strength is our young and dynamic population structure. Our strength is our unity. Didn't we stick together as a family during the pandemic, 15 July, crisis periods or earthquakes? Didn't we look after our elders? Didn't we look after our children? But now we are looking at it, as in the whole world, our people are getting lonelier and lonelier. Therefore, this ‘Year of the Family’ is very important in this context."
