Green Left Party candidate Özgül Saki: We rebel against the hate policies targeting the existence of LGBTI+s! Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Green Left Party İstanbul candidates attended the Green Left Party Spring Fest held in Yoğurtçu Park on April 23. Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd, Green Left Party parliamentary candidate Özgül Saki, a socialist feminist, referred to the historical importance of Yoğurtçu Park in terms of class conflict and feminist struggle:

“Soldiers blocked workers at Yoğutçu Park during June 15-16, 1970 Worker Resistance. March for Solidarity against Battering was held in Yoğurtçu on May 17, in 1987. We held our Spring Fest at this park, which has a historical significance in terms of class conflict and feminist struggle. The fight goes on!”

Underlining that they never give up the struggle against sexism, homophobia and transphobia in their own organizations either, Saki said, “Our revolt against patriarchal capitalism is not specific to the institutions of the system.”

Saki criticized the anti-LGBTI+ policies of the government as follows:

“We rebel against Justice and Development Party (AKP) – Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) government’s ‘ideal woman’ imposition, its misogynist attacks on the İstanbul Convention and Law no 6284 to Protect Family and Prevent Violence against Woman and its hate policies targeting the existence of LGBTI+s. We continue our struggle everywhere in order to hear political rhetoric and see political subjects of LGBTI+s!”
