Another signature campaign targeting LGBTI+'s came from Memur-Sen. Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen, targeted LGBTI+'s. He demanded changes in the articles on family in the Civil Code and the Constitution.
A new one has been added to hate campaigns targeting LGBTI+'s. Following the anti-LGBTI+ signature campaign organised by Mil-Diyanet Sen, one of the unions of the Diyanet, Memur-Sen, a union of civil servants in Turkey, has launched a signature campaign titled ‘Change the Constitution, protect the family’.
Within the scope of the campaign, it is demanded that the sentences ‘The family consists of men and women’ and ‘The basis of the family relationship is marriage’ be added to the constitution.
In addition, an article titled ‘Persons of the Same Sex’ should be added to the Civil Code, stating that ‘Persons of the same sex cannot marry. Marriage between two persons of the same sex is void. It is also requested that a new article be added, which would stipulate that a same-sex marriage based on the legal order or laws of any country shall not be considered a valid marriage in Turkey.’
‘Perverted lobbies’, ‘desexualisation’, ‘destroying the family’...
In his speech for the signature campaign on 10 March, Ali Yalçın, the President of Memur-Sen, targeted LGBTI+s with the expressions ‘gender ideology’, ‘perversion’ and ‘desexualisation’.
Yalçın claimed that the family is struggling to exist and said, "These forces, which present abnormality and perversion as freedom through gender ideology, carry out a cultural and moral degeneration operation that weakens and disperses the family through social media companies, fashion industry, TV series and film industry, digital broadcasting platforms that they monopolise.’
Using the expressions ‘perverted lobbies’, ‘desexualisation’, ‘family disruption’, Yalçın targeted LGBTI+'s with the following words:
"Some groups funded by perverted global lobbies reject biological sex and impose desexualisation. By encouraging homosexuality, they normalise the perversion they call gay marriage and try to destroy the family, which is a moral structure. It should be known that protecting the family is possible by protecting and keeping alive our values of faith and civilisation, and transferring our values of faith and civilisation to future generations is possible by protecting and keeping alive the family. As members of the family civilisation, it is not possible for us to remain silent about these attacks, which have now turned into a matter of survival, and to see these perversions as rights and freedoms. It is the responsibility and duty of all of us to stand against these foci that have positioned themselves to produce unhealthy individuals without identity, sexless, purified from their values and to protect our family."
