Human Rights Association (IHD) Mersin Branch set up LGBTI+ Rights Commission.

The commission announced its establishment by saying: “All forms of hatred supported by the state ideology are spreading rapidly, in the family, school, university, cafes, cinema, park, street, in brief, in all spheres of life. We don’t want the ideology of hate in our city.”

About LGBTI+ Rights Commissions

The first LGBTI+ Rights Commission of the Association was set up on January 30, in 2022 at the Istanbul Branch.

Organization and empowerment was emphasized within the scope of the founding statement:

“The rights violations suffered by every LGBTI+ person living in Turkey and around the world are the result of the spiral of hatred woven, protected and nurtured by the cis-patriarchy, which is fed by the same mentality around the world. This spiral permeates our lives a little more every day. It gradually narrows the circle of the space in which we live. We are millions of people in this country, we are those who don’t intend to give up on each other, against all odds, we are creating our safe spaces, organising, getting stronger and healing.”
