LGBTI+ organizations went out against hate rally in İzmir, and more than 20 democratic organizations supported the action.

LGBTI+s and their families gathered in front of Türkan Saylan Cultural Center on November 6th, at 16.30 pm, in İzmir by saying “LGBTI+s are together in İzmir and all around Turkey, against hate rallies, we are taking the red flag over against hate marches.”

The press statement made by LGBTI+s in İzmir, İzmir November 20th Platform, June 18 LGBTI+, Direnişin Renkeri (Colors of Resistance), Young LGBTI+ Association, İzmir LGBTI+ Family Group and Lavender LGBTIQ+, was supported by more than 20 non-governmental organizations and political parties.

“Hatred extends, the state protects!”, “We are not silent, we are not afraid, we don’t obey!” and “Despite hate, long live life” were among the most chanted slogans during the action.

LGBTI+ right defenders said: “We urge everyone to defend LGBTI+ existence, their right to life without any strings attached and to construct social peace against those who created this climate of hatred and against the perpetrators who were backed by them.”
