The film screening of “Paris is Burning”, called by İstanbul University Equality Society, was banned by Kadıköy District Governorship three hours before the event. The film was going to be screened today (November 16) at 6.00 pm as a gathering event earlier on the November 20 Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Sharing the news of the ban on the film screening planned by Equality Society, Direnişin Renkleri (Colors of Resistance) said: “We don’t accept your bans!”:

“The film screening event of Equality Society was banned by Kadıköy District Governorship without any justification. We don’t accept this unjust and unlawful censorship by LGBTI+phobic district governorship!”
