In its information request, the association also asked whether the practice of ‘reparative therapy’, which is accepted as torture by many reputable health institutions, is prohibited according to the legislation.

Kaos GL Association makes access to information applications to various public institutions and organisations to remind them of their duty to ensure LGBTI+ access to services. The Ministry of Health is among the institutions to which the association made an application for access to information.
The application for access to information included questions about the ‘reparative therapy’ practice.
In the application for access to information; it was asked whether the practice in question is prohibited according to health legislation.
In addition, the questions included whether such practices are applied in public and private hospitals and how many people were subjected to the so-called ‘repair therapy’ in public hospitals in 2024.
In addition, the request for information also asked how many private health institutions (practices, polyclinics, medical centres, establishments) were inspected in 2024 if such practices/therapies were not prohibited.
Questions for the Ministry of Health
The questions are as follows:
"Practices commonly known as “reparative therapy” or “conversion therapy”, which are aimed at lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex people and whose aim is to “reconcile” or “return” them to their original identities by assuming these identities as a disease;
1. Whether it is prohibited according to health legislation,
2. Whether this type of therapy is practised in public hospitals and, if so, how many applicants received this therapy in 2024 according to the date of the response to this request for information,
3. Whether such practices/therapies are applied in private health institutions (practice, polyclinic, medical centre, establishment),
4. If such practices/therapies are not prohibited in private health institutions (practice, polyclinic, medical centre, establishment), how many clinics were inspected in 2024 according to the date of the response to this information request,
I request to be notified to me in writing."
