Kaos GL asked the Turkish Employment Agency: ‘Do you encourage LGBTI+’s to vocational education programmes offered by ISKUR?’ Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

Kaos GL Association makes access to information applications to various public institutions and organisations to remind them of their duty to ensure access to services for LGBTI+’s. The Turkish Employment Agency was among the institutions to which the association made an application for access to information.

In its application, the association asked whether ISKUR keeps any data on the number of LGBTI+ citizens who benefit from its services and whether a study is planned to understand the needs of LGBTI+’s.

The request for information also included the question of whether a special arrangement is made to encourage LGBTI+ citizens to benefit from vocational education, entrepreneurship and on-the-job education programmes offered by ISKUR and whether there is any data on the participation rates of LGBTI+ labour force in these programmes.

The full questions asked by the association to the Turkish Employment Agency are as follows:

  1. Is there any data on the number of LGBTI+ citizens who benefit from ISKUR's services? If there is no such data, is it planned to carry out a study to understand the needs of this group?
  2. Have any special arrangements been made to encourage LGBTI+ citizens to benefit from vocational education, entrepreneurship and on-the-job education programmes offered by ISKUR? Is there any data on the participation rates of LGBTI+ labour force in these programmes?
  3. Are there any awareness-raising, education or information activities carried out by ISKUR to prevent discriminatory attitudes of employers towards LGBTI+ employees?
  4. Are there any practices that imply positive action on the employment of older LGBTI+’s without social security?
  5. Are there any rules that private employment agencies are subject to in combating discrimination against LGBTI+’s? Is discrimination against LGBTI+’s a reason for an administrative fine and is this fine enforced?
