Kaos GL Association asked TURKSTAT whether it collects data on discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation in its studies on living conditions and poverty.

Kaos GL Association made an information request to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).
In its application for access to information through the Presidential Communication Centre (CİMER), the association asked whether there is any research or data collection study conducted by TURKSTAT to understand the social and economic situation of LGBTI+ citizens in Turkey.
The application for access to information also included the question of whether TURKSTAT's studies on living conditions, poverty or discrimination include data on discrimination or disadvantages based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
In its application for information, the association asked whether there is any data set on the unemployment rates of LGBTI+ citizens and their situation in the labour market and whether TURKSTAT has a study plan on this issue.
Another question in the application was whether any statistical studies have been conducted on LGBTI+ citizens' access to health services, utilisation rates of social services or the problems they experience in these areas, and whether there is a data collection plan in this field in the future.
Kaos GL's questions to TURKSTAT
1. Is there any research or data collection conducted by TURKSTAT to understand the social and economic situation of LGBTI+ citizens in Turkey?
2. Are data on discrimination or disadvantages based on gender identity and sexual orientation collected in TURKSTAT's studies on living conditions, poverty or discrimination?
3. Is there any data set on the unemployment rates of LGBTI+ citizens and their situation in the labour market? Does TURKSTAT have a plan to conduct a study on this issue?
4. Has any statistical study been carried out on LGBTI+ citizens' access to health services, utilisation rates of social services or the problems they experience in these areas? Is there a plan to collect data in this field in the future?
