Kaos GL has started a new integrated program covering the Turkish Parliament, public institutions and non-governmental organizations.  
 
"Sexual orientation and gender identity"
 
Within the scope of the program, informative materials will be published for the use of the related units of the Parliament and the Ministries, regarding the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons (LGBTs). Visits will be carried out, presentations and workshops will be organized. In addition to these, by means of various advocacy mechanisms, members of the parliament and public authorities will be reminded of their liabilities and responsibilities in preventing discrimination and violence.  
 
Justice system and its members will take place among the targets of the program. Superior courts, High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, Turkish Justice Academy and Bars will be invited to acknowledge and serve for equality between all sexual orientations and gender identities; and ensure a jurisprudence that brings justice against discrimination, protection against violence.
 
Under the program, all types of information and action will be produced in line with international law, national legislation and political criteria, that Turkey is already bound up with. 
 
With the aim of including LGBT citizens and foreigners in Turkey in realization of the principals of human rights, democracy and rule of law, Ombudsman and Turkish Human Rights Institution will be the bodies to be particularly addressed.
 
Non-governmental organizations will be the third elementary target group, as they are the constituents of challenge against homophobia, transphobia and all kinds of grounds for discrimination. By means of the activities in Ankara, Izmir and Diyarbakir, current solidarity within the civil field will be strengthened by focusing advocacy ways and methods.
 
An advisory board of five consultants will be accompanying Kaos GL Association during the program. First 20 months of the program, which has started on 1 April 2014, will be supported by European Union’s European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR). By the end of this 20 month, advisory board will prepare a report covering situation analysis and recommendations on LGBT rights in Turkey with regards to legislation, policy and public perception.
