In the ‘Border’ dossier of the 124th issue compiled by Kaos GL Magazine Writing Collective each border is challenged.

In the “Border” dossier of the 124th issue compiled by Kaos GL Magazine Writing Collective each border is challenged.

The new issue of KaosGL magazine, which is prepared in order to dream about a world where borders are perforated, become more and more meaningless and thus are vanished, is now in bookstores.

The dossier articles of May-June issue are compiled around the questions “What is a border? Where does it begin? Where is the inside and the outside of the border? What happens if we cross the other side of the border? Is it possible that borders may be violated or that they may be abolished entirely? Can we live without borders? So if we make borders indefinite or even erase, then would it be necessary to violate the borders?”

The articles of the dossier, which cannot remain within their borders, covered the whole magazine in the 124th issue. The dossier “Border” opened its doors to Cahide Sarı, Didem Çelik, Emre Özcan, Hakan Bilge, Hatice Pınar Şenoğuz, İmge Oranlı, Latife Akyüz, Levent Şentürk, Murat Çınar, Neşe Özgen, Poyraz Şahin, Sinan Elitemiz, Volkan Yılmaz, Yasemin Akis, Yigilante Kocagöz and Yusuf Eradam.

The dossier, which is challenging its own borders, reached its microphone to the organizations and the members of the Regional Network against Homophobia Greece Athens Pride, Albania Pro LGBT, Israeli Queers for Palestine and Serbia Queeria Center. The articles not related to the dossier welcomed Ebru Tönel, who had an interview with Fırat Demir about his new book, and Osman Bulugil, who monitors football from a different perspective. Hayriye Kara questions LGBT refugees living in Turkey about how they turn their back to Iran and move on to this side of the border.

Fahrettin Örenli, the host of UMUM, crowned the dossier with his work “Natural History Museum”. Photography artistNazik Armenakian from Armenia bestowed Layma, a trans sex worker from Erivan, who transcends every border with her looks and her body, to the cover of May-June issue.

125th Issue: “Immigration and Refuge”

In the July-August issue of the magazine “immigration” and “refuge” will be problematicized: “The struggle being fought in metropolises since there is not an opportunity for living in the rural areas, the nostalgia always felt and the way of not being able to return totally… From fear of death to being forced to live in anouther country, the way we remain stateless and homeless… From the black train journey of the refugee LGBTs which starts from Iran to the stations of “waiting-for-to-be-found-proper” in Turkey… The state of affairs as to immigration which evolves from worker migrations and “cheap workers” to the “ignorant Turks” and finally to the “terrorist Muslim”… From integration to assimilation… Our problems are manifold and huge. We are asking: The harbors being sheltered and the new life spheres, do they provide more freedom?”
