Don’t forget to look around as you walk down the street; you may see stickers of Feminists for Election at bus stops, on billboards, on ATMs; that’s to say everywhere.

“We can change the alliance, which deprive us of our fundamental rights we obtained up to now, our right to live properly, all together! We will go on bringing our voice everywhere we are and every street we pass; we will continue to address each other from everywhere and also hear each other” says Feminists for Election and they urge everyone to say “Let’s change Erdoğan’s alliance, which doesn’t take a non-violent life for granted for us, all together at the ballot box” at bazaars in various districts of İstanbul every day till the election on May 28th.

#SandıktaDeğiştirelim (Let’s change it at the ballot box)

Feminists for Election gathered with voters at bazaars in Ümraniye and Beşiktaş on May 20 and at the bazaar in Şirinevler on May 21. Some of the highlights in their manifesto are as follows:

“‘We will adopt women out’, this is what those who came to power say. Are we an object that someone can have? Do we admit that those who consider us as an object to make all kinds of decisions about us? If our response is ‘No!’ change is not rocket science. Let’s not elect Erdoğan on May 28 and change it all together at the ballot box!”

“President Erdoğan, who is decisive in ruling us on his own and making all decisions about us alone, addresses women as ‘bitches, bruises’, he says ‘it is not clear whether they are women or girls’ referring to us. He attempts to dissociate us. If we refuse to indulge such insults, it is up to us to change! Let’s go to polls on May 28 and not allow Erdoğan’s alliance to pass!”

“According to the ruling AKP (Justice and Development Party), which evaluates the abuse of a 6-year-old child as an ‘isolated incident’, and which shamelessly says ‘Just once, won’t hurt’ about children subjected to abuse at the dormitories of the sects, sex between two adults of their own accord should be forbidden. They say ‘Abuse is not a crime but this is’. Let’s not allow this alliance that is disturbed by the mutual love between people instead of child abuse. Let’s change it at the ballot box in the second round!”

“They withdrew from the İstanbul Convention overnight with the decision of a single person despite all the objections of women. And now they want to abolish Law no. 6284 on the prevention of violence against women. Will we surrender our lives to those who don’t take a non-violent life for granted for us? Saying ‘No’ is up to us, let’s not allow Erdoğan to be elected, let’s change it all together at the ballot box!”
