A homophobic hate march was held with the slogan “Heresy cannot be normalized, Family is under attack” in the capital, where there has been a ban on LGBTI+ marches since 2016.

The hate rally, which was organized upon the call of Ankara Civil Society Platform (ASTP) using the slogans “Heresy cannot be normalized, Family is under attack”, was held in the capital Ankara, where there has been a ban on LGBTI+ marches and activities since 2016.

The hate march, organized by Ankara Civil Society Platform claiming that the “family” was under attack, started from Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque on Friday, October 30. The march, which was announced to be performed from Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque to Melike Hatun Mosque, was completed at Ulus Statue Square, popularly known as “Ulus Atatürk Statue”.

Slogans like “Take hands off my family” , “Family is divine, protect your divine”, “Say stop, say stop! Say stop to heresy!” were chanted and some placards written, “Heresy cannot be normalized, Family is under attack, no to LGBT”, “Say stop to LGBT imposition and propaganda”, “Family is the cornerstone of the society”, “No to perverse global gangs”, “Say no to the project regarding genderless society” on were carried in company with a banner written “No to Imposition of Heresy” on, during the march. “Those claiming to be modern, follow the footsteps of the people of Lut” and “Ban the propaganda of heresy” were also among the banners carried at the march and some of the banners were also written in English.
