LGBTI+ organizations in Ankara celebrated Kaos GL's 30th anniversary Kaos GL - News Portal for LGBTI+

LGBTI+ organizations in Ankara came together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Kaos GL. The organizations met at a reception and celebrated the birthday of Kaos GL, which started its journey in 1994.

Seçin Tuncel from Kaos GL Association made a speech at the event. Referring to the 30-year history of struggle, Tuncel emphasized that it is important to preserve memory and history.

Talking about the Ankara Queer Memory website launched by Çankaya Girls working on the right to the city, Tuncel continued as follows:

"For some time now, we have had difficulty in using the spaces in our city due to bans and restrictions. With this site and this work, we aim to create a safe network to overcome such obstacles."

Tuncel thanked everyone who attended the reception and gave the message of “Continue the struggle”.

About Ankara Queer Memory

Ankara Queer Memory is a website created for Ankara's LGBTI+ community. The website aims to help LGBTI+’s in Ankara discover safe spaces and LGBTI+ friendly places, announce events within the community and strengthen solidarity among this community.

Ankara Queer Memory is designed as a dictionary that is constantly updated with the contributions of its users. Users can add information about venues based on their own experiences and these entries are published after being approved by the site administrators. There are also special sections on the site for events and announcements for the LGBTI+ community. These sections allow other LGBTI+ organizations in Ankara to share their events and announcements.

The site started its publication life with the first entries based on the results of a survey conducted among LGBTI+’s in Ankara. The content of the site will be constantly updated according to the needs and suggestions of the community and will be shaped by the entries entered by its users. The aim of Ankara Queer Memory is to increase communication within the community, increase the number and awareness of safe spaces and strengthen solidarity among LGBTI+’s.
