“LGBTI+ Rights and Anti-Discrimination Training” has been conducted in Mardin (a city in south-west of Turkey) with the cooperation of Amnesty International and Kaos GL Association.

In partnership with Amnesty International and Kaos GL Association, “LGBTI+ Rights and Anti-Discrimination Training” was organized on Saturday, June 29 for professional groups working in the field of mental health.

In the first session of the event, the concepts of “rights”, “human” and “human dignity” were discussed. The definitions of gender and LGBTI+ terms were included and especially notions like discrimination, prejudice and imposed norms were discussed.

“We can’t ignore LGBTI+’s”

The second session of the training continued with the evaluation of the speeches in the first session together with the participants. A participant gave an example from the sayings of prophet Muhammad as “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart.” and continued: “It is easy to at least change our tongue, our language on this matter. We have to do this and fight discrimination for ourselves, our children and our society. We shouldn’t ignore LGBTI+’s. They exist and we have to fight for it.”
