MHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Selim Yurdakul continues to target LGBTI+s and their rights.
The final report from the anti-LGBTI+ “Family Institution Workshop,” held under the direction of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, was released last month, with MHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Selim Yurdakul unveiling proposals for anti-LGBTI+ constitutional amendments.
Yurdakul shared his anti-LGBTI+ agenda in a new statement to Türkgün newspaper. Discussing the workshop, Yurdakul referred to the LGBTI+ community’s demands for equality, freedom, and justice as “propaganda and threat.” He stated:
“We consider LGBT propaganda as a threat not only to our nation and country but to the entire world. It is impossible to ignore the fact that global forces are pushing campaigns such as gender-neutral child-rearing on societies. This is being imposed through the cartoons our children watch, the games they play, the books they read, and the theatre they attend. In the case of LGBT propaganda, we see a small, unnatural and raging minority attempting to transform entire nations deliberately. For instance, your child might be interested in dinosaurs, earth sciences, and natural history. Naturally, they enjoy watching cartoons or animated films about dinosaurs. You turn one of these shows on and, while watching it with your child, you suddenly see a scene where two same-sex child characters kiss. You then notice that one of the children expresses attitudes and wears clothing that contradict their biological sex. This is not just a portrayal; it’s an enforced imposition. Hollywood, where many of these productions originate, faces criticism from Americans themselves. Families in the US are also concerned about this trend. There is a deliberate and unsettling agenda at play, and we must protect our children from such attacks. Both families and government oversight are crucial at this point. Families must remain vigilant, and those who stand up and call out wrongs should be supported, while those who engage in these acts should be stopped. This will prevent a small minority from spreading desexualization and LGBT propaganda globally. As the Nationalist Movement Party, our stance is clear. We adhere to principles and ideals rooted in science, biological awareness, as well as our beliefs, traditions, customs, and values.”
